My remembering

Created by Andrew 6 years ago
I posted this on my Facebook page after coming back from Nat's funeral:

Some of my friends have wondered about my recent choice of profile picture. Setting unicorns as profile pictures is something a bunch of people have done in rememberance of our friend Nat Singleton.

Quite a few of my friends knew Nat all of her life. As I have lived away from the Midlands for so long I only knew Nat as an adult.

Speaking to people today it was striking how many people there were who Nat had taken the time to spend time with and help individually.

Nat had a pile of accomplishments and it is easy to say "beautiful and talented" and those things are true. She also had problems with pain and illness and it is easy to say "brave" and "stoic" and these things are true as well. But today we cried for our friend. For the person who was a friend and had time for us in the face of all of the challenges and all of the opportunities life put in front of her. Both things that take so many of us away from so many people.

Talking to Nat made me happy. I'll remember her and I'll miss her and from the sight of so many people at the funeral so will many others. I'm thankful she is at peace.
